Chromosome lesions produced with an argon laser microbeam without dye sensitization.

چکیده
Improvements in the argon laser microbeam have made it possible to cause damage to chromosomes of tissue culture cells without prior treatment of the cells with a photosensitizing agent. These results have been confirmed independently in two laboratories.

Argon Laser Micro-irradiation of Nucleoli
Laser micro-irradiation of cell inclusions has become a useful method in cell biology (1). A pulsed ruby laser microbeam system has been successfully used to study morphological and functional relationships within mitochondria of tissue culture cells vitally stained with Janus green B (2-6) . Recently, an argon ion gas laser microbeam has been used to place lesions on mitotic chromosomes of sal...
متن کاملPhotodynamic Therapy for Superficial Esophageal Cancer Using an Excimer Dye Laser
In order to improve the therapeutic effectiveness of photodynamic therapy with Photofrin II and laser light for superficial esophageal cancer, we employed an excimer dye laser instead of an argon dye laser. Eight superficial esophageal cancer lesions (7 cases) were treated. Of these 8 lesions, 6 were cured by initial treatment, while one lesion required another treatment. The final rate of cure...
متن کاملPulsed dye laser (PDL) in the treatment of portwine stains: a narrative review
Portwine stains (PWS) lesions are one of the most common childhood vascular malformations that gradually increase in color and thickness without treatment and have profound devastating psychological effects on the child. For this reason, and also because the lesions become resistant to treatment over time, early treatment of these lesions is very important. pulsed dye laser (PDL) is currently t...
متن کاملThe role of the centriolar region in animal cell mitosis. A laser microbeam study
An argon ion laser microbeam (488 and 514 nm) was used to selectively irradiate one of the two centriolar regions of rat kangaroo Potorous tridactylis (PtK2) prophase cells in vitro. The cells were sensitized to the laser radiation by treatment with acridine orange (0.1-0.2 mug/ml). Ultrastructural examination of the irradiated centriolar regions demonstrated that the primary site of damage was...
متن کاملPyogenic granuloma following treatment with pulsed dye Laser: Report of two cases
Pulsed dye laser (PDL) is an effective treatment for port- wine stain and can cause some short- term and long- term side- effects. Pyogenic granoluma is one of its late- onset adverse effects. Herein, we present two cases of pyogenic granoluma following treatment of port- wine stain with PDL.
